bergamo informationThe breathtaking Duomo is a vast cathedral – the third largest in Christendom – situated in the centre of Milan with some 3,500 statues adorning its exterior. On a clear day visit the view from its roof reaches as far as the Alps, over 75km away. From the Duomo it is a short walk to La Scala Milan Opera House (via the exquisite Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II marble floored, glass-roofed shopping arcade) The opera is only in season from 7 December to the end of June but you can always visit the theatre’s museum.

Lombardy’s mountain valleys and lakes are within easy reach of Milan. Lake Como is only 40 minutes drive away from Bergamo and Stresa on Maggiore can be reached in two hours.
